Tried to uphold Elizabethan Settlement of 1559 (see England, B 6) and to est. a middle course bet. RCm and Puritanism. Issued Thirty-nine Articles (see Anglican Confessions, 6) and editions of medieval historians; helped issue Bishop's Bible (see Bible Versions, L 7–8).
