B. probably Münster, Westphalia, of RC parents; believed he saw visions at an early age; to Amsterdam, Neth., ca. 1529; in Emden, Ger., 154060; founded Familists*; before proceedings could be taken against his antinomianism at Emden he escaped; fugitive during his last yrs.
