(1616–80). Quietist who gathered followers in Neth., Fr., and Scot.; convent life and efforts at orphans' work failures due to distrust of human nature; attacked religious organizations of every type; denied divine foreknowledge, atonement, need of Scriptures. See also Poiret, Pierre.
