Bach, Johann Christian

(1735–82). Regarded the most highly talented son of J. S. Bach; the first Bach to study in It. 1754; pupil of Padre Martini; organist Milan Cathedral 1760; joined RC Ch.; to London 1762; friend of W. A. Mozart,* whom he influenced as composer.
