(1671–1738). Swed. Luth. philos., theol., bp.; educ. Uppsala; instructor 1699, prof. 1710 Lund; ordained 1725; bp. Lund 1734; influenced by R. Descartes.* Works include Svenska vitterhets-arbeten: Sensus internus och sensus intimus.

Rygh, George Alfred Taylor

(March 21, 1860–July 16, 1942). B. Chicago, Illinois Educ. Luth. Coll., Decorah, Iowa; Capital U., Columbus, Ohio; Luther Theol. Sem., St. Paul, Minnesota Held various teaching positions. Pastor Maine, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota Hymnist. Tr. Scand. hymns into Eng., including “He is Arisen! Glorious Word!”; “Like the Golden Sun Ascending”; “Holy Spirit, God of Love”; “Speak, O Lord, Thy Servant Heareth”; “He that Believes and is Baptized.” Other works include Morgenrödens Vinger; Sangkor; The Shadow of a Wrong; The Pioneers; John Harding.
