(ca. 1110/15–1158). B. perhaps Neuburg, near Vienna, Austria; studied at Paris, Fr.; Cistercian 1132; abbot Morimond, Fr., ca. 1137; abbot Freising, Bav., ca. 1138; active in politics; took part in 2d Crusade (see Crusades, 3). Works include a world chronicle.
