Göhre, Paul

(1864–1928). B. Wurzen, Ger.; ev. theol.; as student interested in soc. problems; worked 3 mo. in a factory and wrote of the experience; gen. secy. of Ev. Soc. Congress 1891–94; wrote with M. Weber* a study on condition of farm hands 1894; helped found Nat. Socialist Union but later withdrew; joined Soc. Democratic Party of Ger.: broke with ch. 1906 and encouraged masses to follow; wrote on problems of socialism, materialism, and religion.
