(Didymus; ca. 1487–1558). B. near Annaberg, Ger.; educ. Wittenberg and Erfurt; left Augustinian order 1521; active in iconoclastic movement; yielded to Luther; preacher at Altenburg 1522; preacher 1523, pastor 1525, supt. 1529 at Torgau; deposed because of his opposition to Interim* 1549.
