Skálholt diocese, Iceland; discovered the Poetic Edda (see Eddas), also called Elder Edda, ca. 1643 and called it Edda Saemundi multiscii (after Saemund Sigfusson [ca. 10551132], scion of the royal house of Norw., who was thus credited with collecting these poems).
