(1827–February 28, 1880). B. Württemberg, Ger.; educ. in the institute of the Basel* Miss. Soc.; to Am. 1851. Pastor Ellenville, New York; asst. pastor St. Matthew's Luth. Ch., NYC, 1851–55; pastor Willamsburg (Brooklyn) and then in Brooklyn proper, New York Helped found Ger. Ev. Luth. Syn. of New* York and Other States and was its only pres.; organized Ger.
