Servites

(Order of Friar Servants of St. Mary). Religious family of friars (priests and brothers), contemplative nuns, and conventual and secular tertiaries* founded 1233 when some cloth merchants of Florence, It., left their city and families to retire to an area near Florence for a life of poverty and penance.
