(November 16, 1869–October 14, 1943). Luth. theol.; b. Diebach, near Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Bav.; educ. Neuendettelsau; to Am. 1889; asst. pastor (Ev. Luth. Syn. of Iowa* and Other States), Mendota, Illinois, 1889; pastor Rock Falls, Illinois, 1890; prof. Wartburg Theol. Sem., Dubuque, Iowa, 1899. Prominent in efforts toward Luth. unity at home and abroad. Ed. Kirchliche Zeitschrift.
