Ch. 1860 and was its pres. 187481, 18991911; founded Minnesota Elementar Läroverk in Red Wing 1862 (later moved to Carver, Minnesota, as Ansgar Academy; relocated 1875 in St. Peter, Minnesota, as Gustavus Adolphus Coll.); founded orphanage Vasa, Minnesota, 1865 and served it 11 yrs. Founded and ed. Minnesota Posten 1857; ed. Augustana; other works include T. N. Hasselquist and De svenska luterska församlingarnas och svenskarnes historia i Amerika
