(Nero Claudius Caesar Drusus Germanicus; originally Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus; 37–68). Roman emp. 54–68; b. Antium (Anzio), Latium, S cen. It.; accused of starting the fire that burned much of Rome 64, he in turn accused the Christians and persecuted them; suicide. He is the emperor referred to in Acts 25:11–12, 21, 25; 26:32; Ph 4:22.
