RC order for men said to have been founded by Peter* Nolasco (hence also called Nolascans) at Barcelona, Sp., to care for sick and rescue those taken captive by Moors; spread through W Eur.; est. houses in Lat. Am. 2. RC order for women founded 1568 at Seville, Sp.
