(Marsiglio dei Mainardini; ca. 1290–ca. 1343). It. philos. and scholar. Prof. Paris 1311, rector 1313. With John* of Jandun wrote Defensor pacis, a treatise against temporal power of papacy; excommunicated 1327 by John XXII (see Popes, 13).
