Organized in Eng. 1861 by George R. Drysdale (18251904; physician; works include The Elements of Social Science) and Charles Bradlaugh (183391; ed. National Reformer) to advocate, defend, and provide information on birth control. Branches were est. in many countries. Disbanded 1927 because it considered its work completed.
