(ca. 1485–1555). B. Thurcaston, Leicestershire, Eng.; educ. Cambridge; priest ca. 1515; embraced Protestantism; bp. Worcester 1535; resigned 1539 because he opposed the Six Articles (see Anglican Confessions, 3); imprisoned in Tower of London 1546; released 1547 by Edward VI; burned at stake.
