(Johann Friedrich der Mittlere; 1529–95). Duke of Saxony; father of John* Casimir; b. Torgau, Prussia; son of John* Frederick the Magnanimous; allowed to rule small part of his father's land by Charles* V after 1547; deposed 1566; imprisoned 1567.
