Hartwick, John Christopher

(Johannes Christophorus; January 6, 1714–July 17, 1796). Luth. cleric; b. Saxe-Gotha, Ger.; received theol. educ. in Ger.; ordained London, Eng.; to Am. as chaplain of a Ger. regiment in the service of Eng.; held various pastorates in the US and Nova Scotia; helped organize Pennsylvania Ministerium (see United Lutheran Church in America, The, Synods of, 22); willed estate for endowment of Hartwick* Sem..
