Eucken, Rudolf Christoph

(1846–1926). Ger. philos.; prof. Jena 1874–1920; received Nobel prize 1908; exchange prof. Harvard 1912–13. Held a philos. of ethical activism: truth must satisfy the needs of the whole of life (this approach called noological method); in spiritual existence man relates himself to the universal Spirit.
