Stately and exultant hymn of praise addressed to the Triune God or to-a single person of the Godhead, as in Paul's letters, e.g., Ro 16:27; Eph 3:21; in particular, the Greater Doxology (Gloria in excelsis), the Lesser Doxology (Gloria Patri), and the long-meter doxology (Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow).
