(1602–44). Anglican. B. Oxford; d. Chichester. RC 1630; Angl. again 1634; Arminian; chancellor Salisbury 1638; chaplain in royal army; captured; d. in captivity. Wrote The Religion of Protestants a Safe Way to Salvation, vindicating the sole authority of the Bible and the individual's right to study it.
