Received degree in medicine at U. of Freiburg; turned to law, then to theol.; cathedral preacher at Basel 1515; preacher at Mainz 1519; espoused Reformation doctrines; to Strasbourg 1523, where he was chief preacher of the Ch. of St. Thomas.
