Camerarius, Joachim

(1500–74). Educ. Leipzig and Erfurt; prof. Nürnberg, Tübingen, and Leipzig; Gk. classicist; friend of Melanchthon* and Luther; assisted Melanchthon in preparing material for the Apology; favored the Leipzig Interim, December 1548; present at the Religious Peace of Augsburg and the Diet of Regensburg; wrote biographies of Melanchthon and H.
