Urged reform at Lateran* Council V; papal legate in Ger. 151819; urged crusade against Turks at Diet of Augsburg; reasoned with Luther* after Diet 1518; supported election of Charles V* and Hadrian VI; opposed divorce of Henry VIII.* Wrote commentary on Summa theologiae of Thomas* Aquinas.
