Bogatzky, Karl Heinrich von

(1690–1774). B. Silesia. Studied law at Jena, then theol. at Halle under Francke. Poor health limited his activities to writing. Spent last 28 yrs. of life at Halle orphanage. Works include Güldenes Schatz-Kästlein der Kintier Gottes (Eng. title, Golden Treasury), Meditations (7 vols.), and the miss. hymn tr. into Eng. as “Awake, Thou Spirit Who Didst Fire.”
