Ylvisaker, Ivar Daniel

(May 26, 1868–March 5, 1926). B. Trondhjem, Norw.; to Am. as child; educ. Luther Coll., Decorah, Iowa, Luther* Theol. Sem.; pastor Great Falls and Helena, Montana, Mayville, North Dakota; pres. North Dakota Dist. of The Norw. Luth. Ch. of Am. after 1917 merger; pres. of ministerium of same ch.; member of several committees and boards, including the one which brought about the merger. Ylvisaker, Johannes Thorbjoernsen

(April 24, 1845–October 10, 1917). Father of S. C. Ylvisaker; b. Sogndal, Norw.; to Am. 1871; educ. Luther Coll., Decorah, Iowa, Conc. Sem., St. Louis, Christiania, Leipzig; pastor Zumbrota Minnesota, 1877; prof. Luther* Theol. Sem. 1879. Coed. Kirketidende; works include The Gospels.

(June 15, 1884–April 26, 1959). Son of J. T. Ylvisaker; b. Madison, Wisconsin; educ. Luther Coll., Decorah, Iowa, Minnesota U., Luther* Theol. Sem., St. Paul, Minnesota, Leipzig; pastor Minot, North Dakota, 1910; prof. Gk. and Heb. Luther Coll., Decorah, Iowa, 1911; prof. Conc. Coll., St. Paul, Minnesota, 1919; pastor Madison, Wisconsin, 1923; pres. Bethany Lutheran Coll., Mankato, Minnesota, 1930; retired 1952. Ed. Lutheran Sentinel; chief ed. Grace for Grace: Brief History of the Norwegian Synod; works include Zur Babylonischen und Assyrischen Grammatik.
