(Sucat; Patricius; perhaps ca. 385/389–ca. 461). Apostle and patron saint of Ireland; possibly b. Bannavem (Bannauenta? Banwen?), perhaps near the Severn, in Roman Britain (or near Kilpatrick, Scot.?); kidnaped at ca. 16 and taken as a slave to Ireland: herded swine; escaped at ca. 22; trained on the Continent to be a miss.; returned to Ireland.
