Dieuze, Lorraine; Benedictine till 1527, then ev. pastor; 1531–47 in Augsburg; signed Wittenberg* Concord; inclined to Confessio Tetrapolitana (see Reformed Confessions, D 1); attended Colloquy of Worms* and Regensburg* Conf. 1540–41; driven out of Augsburg by the Interim*; prof. Bern, Switz.; hymnist. Hymns include “Christe, der du bist Tag und Licht” (tr. of Lat. Christe qui lux es et dies).
