Laymen's Activity in the Lutheran Church.

Cong. polity of Luth. chs. directs laymen's chief energies into parish administration and work. Membership assemblies, bds., etc., provide opportunities to contribute time and talent. Many parishes also organize groups for soc. and recreational purposes. These groups occasionally sponsor or promote direct service in the interest of the cong. budget or program of evangelism. They may form nat. or internat. assocs. Areas of interest and activity include Scouting and other parish youth programs and scholarships at colleges and univs. Unofficial groups engage in intersyn. contact.
