Khomyakov, Aleksei Stepanovich

(Khomiakov; Khomiakoff; 1804–60). B. Moscow, Russ.; lay theol., philos., Slavophile; opposed scholastic rationalism* and idealism*; held that the Orthodox Ch. has Christ as Head and the Holy Spirit as Soul and that its essence is freedom in the spirit at one with itself.
