Harris, William Wada

(Wadé; Waddy; b. ca. 1853). Called “Prophet.” Liberian of Grebo tribe; converted in youth; to Ivory Coast 1913; barefoot; wore long white robe and turban; carried high bamboo cross, Bible, and calabash of water; converts estimated up to 100,000; fetishism* disappeared; arrested 1915 by Fr.; deported to Liberia.
