Ehrenfels, Maria Christian Julius Leopold Karl v.

(1859–1932). B. Rodaun, Austria; prof. philos., and psychol. Prague; helped introd. the term Gestalt into psychol. (see also Educational Psychology, D 5; Psychology, J 5). Held that desire is fundamental in valuation and sought to trace the way in which desires and motives produce values. Works include Über Gestaltqualitäten; System der Werttheorie.

Ehrhard, Albert

(1862–1940). B. Herbitzheim, Alsace; RC hagiographer and patristic scholar; taught ch. hist. at Strasbourg 1889, Würzburg 1892, Vienna 1893, Freiburg 1902, Strasbourg 1903, Bonn 1920. Works include Liberaler Katholizismus?

Ehrle, Franz

(1845–1934). B. Isny, Württemberg; RC hist.; prefect of Vatican library; with H. S. Denifle* started Archiv für Litteratur- und Kirchengeschichte des Mittelalters; pioneer in scientific study of the hist. of scholasticism.*
