(January 7, 1786–April 19, 1859). B. Fulton, Schoharie Co., New York; elected 4 times to Assembly of New York; state senator; finished difficult section of Erie Canal; built 5 other canals; gov. New York 1842; Asst. Treas. US; participated in councils of New York Ministertum.
