Wayne seminary as successor of C. L. A. Wolter 184950; prof. Conc. Sem., St. Louis, 185058. Promoted study and use of Eng. language and an Eng. academy in St. Louis. Advocated closer relations with other Luth. chs., esp. the Norw. and Tennessee Synods.
