Alexius I Comnenus (10481118; emp. 10811118; persecuted the Bogomils*); failed to secure the throne for her husband, Nicephorus Bryennius; her Alexiad, chiefly a hist. of her father's reign, is an important source for Byzantine hist. at the time of 1st Crusade.
